With her maiden fishing trip on the thirtieth of June, the beam trawler Georgina of Ladram started her working career for her owners Waterdance Ltd.

The UK flagged vessel will operate from Brixham, and will primarily be fishing on Sole, Plaice and Squid.

Van Stigt’s Cor Kardienaal recalls: “in July 2018 we received an order from Machinefabriek LUYT for a reversing gear. This reversing gear was intended for a brand-new 35 metre long beam trawler ordered by Waterdance Ltd”.

“For our client it was the biggest new built ever. Our team assisted with the selection of the reversing gear, and made sure it is the perfect match for the ABC main engine specified. For the 736 kW @ 810 rpm ABC engine, a ZF W10230 marine gear was selected that not only perfectly matched the engine, but also the 3,2 metre diameter propeller. The chosen configuration requires a heavy duty gearbox with a high gear ratio. The selected reversing gear from the ZF Though Gear Series, with a gear ratio of 7,524:1, is more than capable to cope with the high loads typically encountered. The reversing gear is fitted with an integrated propeller shaft brake and a counter flange for the propeller”.
