Hybrid patrol vessels for Kooiman Shipyard

The Kooiman yard has two aluminium hybrid patrol vessels under construction. The vessels possess a clever Hull Vane shape, that reduces the wake building. Also the are fitted with a parallel-hybrid propulsion system, where two separate motors can drive a single propeller shaft. In this case an electric motor and a diesel engine. This combination reduces the fuel consumption and the resulting CO2 emissions,  in all senses, a “green” drive system.

Geislinger Carbotorq® CT47 elastic coupling combined with the ZF 3000 V switchable gearbox

ADS van Stigt is honoured it is able to contribute to this new generation of patrol vessels with the supply of the highly modern ZF 3000 V selectable reduction gears. The reducer gears are executed  with a built on PTO and pressure  bearing, and a connection for the adjustable Helseth propeller.

The gears are of the V type, which means the diesel engine is positioned above the propeller shaft, and in this case even above the electric motor. This enables a very compact engine room, leaving more space for the underdeck quarters.

Weight and noise were important, for which reason a Geislinger Gesilco carbon propeller shaft in combination with a Geislinger Carbotorq elastic coupling was selected. Through their unique design also a considerable weight saving was possible, further reducing emissions.

We thank the Kooiman yard fort this nice order.
