Retractable Azimuth Thruster
The Retractable Azimuth Thruster, as ZF refers to it, operates in full azimuth mode when deployed and can be used as auxiliary propulsion to enhance the vessel’s positioning and dynamic positioning capabilities, such as DP1, DP2, or DP3. By integrating a tunnel into the design of the outer well, the thruster can also be used as a bow thruster, providing additional flexibility when maneuvering in shallow waters. This propulsion system is widely applied on offshore support vessels (OSVs), research vessels, jack-up ships, stand-by vessels, and rescue craft. With a power range from 95 to 2,500 kW, the Retractable Azimuth Thruster delivers reliable performance for a wide variety of maritime applications.
