Recently our service engineers worked on board the Self-propelled Cutter Suction Dredger D’ARTAGNAN owned by Dredging, Environmental and Marine Engineering NV or DEME on the Dr. Horn OMD’s. The main propulsion engines and the dredging plant engines are equipped with the MEV 282 oil mist detector. These OMDs give a warning when there is a danger of explosion at an increasing oil-mist concentration within the engine’s crankcase. The detector can also prevent other damage to engine parts.
