ZF 3050 transmissions and Geislinger composite shafts

We have recently received an order from Next Generation Shipyards (NGS) in Lauwersoog to supply eight ZF 3050 reverse reduction transmissions and eight Geislinger composite shafts.

These will be installed in the four M-class jet-driven pilot tenders of the Dutch Pilotage Service (Nederlands Loodswezen). The ships are intended to replace four tenders from the Discovery class.

The four new ships are a further development of the 'Mira', a sustainable tender design from 2020. By means of weight savings, smart technology and an improved hull design, a fuel saving of 30% has been achieved.

For this project, we are supplying lightweight aluminum ZF reversing gears and lightweight Geislinger Monobrane couplings and Gesilco composite shafts (about 4.5 m long). These products are characterized by their low weight, which is a requirement for this type of ship and contributes to fuel savings.

The four tenders are to be commissioned in 2023, 2024 and 2025.

We would like to thank Next Generation Shipyards and the Dutch Pilotage Service for their trust!
