During a workshop visit today we discovered a very nice ZF reverse gear ready for shipment. We found out it will be installed next week in a twin-screw patrol vessel.

The reverse gear in question is the very compact ZF 500-1 with a 1,964:1 gear ratio. With a 7° output shaft angle and made from a ZF developed aluminium alloy, this cleverly designed reverse gear is remarkably light for its torque potential. Thanks to SuperShift2 the shifting behaviour leaves nothing to be desired, while the Trolling mode enables easy low speed operation.

The noise requirements were pretty strict for this particular job. Thanks to ADS developed semi-elastic supports the vibration energy from the gear is largely absorbed with a very low noise level as result.
